NEW IN 2012 !!
We are adding the El Toro sailing pram to our repertoir in 2012.  At around 80 pounds total weight, this internationally-recognized class is the ideal boat for young, still-growing sailors.  But don't get the impression that it is a "toy boat" or only suitable for the young.  They are so much fun to sail, so relatively inexpensive to build or buy and so uncomplicated to rig that they are a popular class among adults as well, even including Master's racers.  It is not unusual at top sailing organizations to see fleets of adult racers who own ocean racers dueling it out in El Toros on the weekends.
There are organized races at the local, state, region, national and international level.   http://eltoroyra.org/
The boat is normally sailed by one person but it is not unusual to have two people in them.
They also can double as a dinghy tender for a larger boat either by rowing or with a small outboard.
These are not "toy boats":  they can handle anything that you are capable of handling.  For example, the Bullship Regatta has been held in San Francisco Bay (the home of the El Toro) every year for over 50 years.  El Toros sail across S.F. Bay in one of the most challenging parts of the bay:  the mouth of the Golden Gate with its tricky winds and notorious currents, not to mention transiting ocean-going freighters etc.
