LOG DODGE RACES, EVERETT
FRIDAY EVENINGS
Camano
Sail and Power, LLC, is a member of the Milltown Sailing Association in
Everett. Below are the schedule of races and a map showing how to
get to the clubhouse. For reference, note especially where
Anthony's Home Port is and the location of 14th st. which
you turn on to drive down to the Everett Y.C. and the Milltown
clubhouse.
We will be taking our Hobie-33 Samurai down to the Log Dodge races on every Friday except for the first one,
June 11.
All
former or current small boat or keelboat students are invited to crew
during these fun and low key events. They are a wonderful way to
practice what you have learned and, in the case of small boat sailors,
get a taste of what big boat sailing is like.
There are several items to pay attention to if this is of interest to you.
First,
you must be able to be on-board the boat at the north guest dock no
later than 5:30 PM on that Friday. We will be departing right at
6:00 in order to be able to make the start line in time.
Second,
you must let us know by e-mail not later than
7:00 PM on Thursday if you will be there. We will put out an e-mail
around 9:00 PM on Thursday saying who the crew is for that week.
It is first come-first served.
Third,
you must have your own PFD and appropriate sailing attire. SHOES WITH WHITE OR OTHER NON-MARKING SOLES ARE REQUIRED. The
races usually last until 9 or so, sometimes longer if the wind dies, so
bring warm stuff and wind/rain breakers: it is cool anytime on
the water and once the sun gets low, it can get very nippy. We
race rain or not. Sun screen and sunglasses (polarized if
possible). Snacks and liquids (non-alcoholic) are always a good
idea to bring along. Samurai has a porta potti on board.
The modest food and drink at the clubhouse afterwards cost a few bucks, not much.
The post-race gathering of lie-telling and excuse-making and
story-telling is easily as much fun as the race itself.
